“Laurent de Brunhoff has renewed the Babar tradition. The wise elephant is the epitype of enlightened despotism. Every minister of culture should read the book and learn from it.”

I remember thinking that the best part of the Babar books was that travel looked so delightfully fun, laid-back, and straight-forward. Now I realize how rare that perspective is now-a-days. (Of course this is the perspective of someone who has been called a Habsburg apologist.)
